Facing a lawsuit filed with FIFA, Hoang Anh Gia Lai accuses the player of defamation

Hoang Anh Gia Lai has officially reported the situation to authorities after their player Martin Dzilah filed a complaint with FIFA, accusing the club of not paying compensation for an early contract termination.

On August 30, FIFA ruled in favor of Martin Dzilah, ordering Hoang Anh Gia Lai to pay $29,000 (over 720 million VND) as compensation. Dzilah had taken the case to FIFA, claiming that Hoang Anh Gia Lai had not compensated him following their unilateral termination of his contract. The amount includes his salary for the remaining time on the contract during the 2023/2024 V-League season, along with penalties and taxes.

If Hoang Anh Gia Lai fails to settle the amount before October 14, the club faces a three-window transfer ban imposed by FIFA.

Speaking with vsn.com.vn, Hoang Anh Gia Lai team manager Nguyen Tan Anh stated that the club has sought help from authorities to clarify the issue, claiming, “The investigation is underway, and the reality is that the club did pay, but the player [Dzilah] claims he hasn’t received it.”

Hoang Anh Gia Lai insists that they have evidence of having paid Dzilah $20,000 (approximately 500 million VND) in cash. The club holds a signed receipt from Dzilah, written in English, which acknowledges his receipt of the payment. The document was signed by both parties on March 21, 2024.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai has also reported the matter to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), requesting assistance in filing an appeal. The case is now under investigation by relevant authorities.
