
Vietnam women’s futsal team is set to play two matches against the Russia women’s futsal team in November 2024, bringing the total number of encounters between Russian and Vietnamese football teams to eight in just over a year.
The Vietnam women’s futsal team has officially regrouped to prepare for the 2024 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship, scheduled to take place at the end of November. Notably, during this training period, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang’s squad will face the Russia women’s futsal team twice in Ho Chi Minh City. Ranked seventh in the world, the Russian team will provide high-level competition for Vietnam as they aim to qualify for the World Cup.
These two matches will mark the eighth time a Vietnamese football team has faced a Russian team in the last 14 months (from September 2023 to November 2024). Previously, the Vietnam men’s futsal team faced Russia in September 2023, the Vietnam U20 men’s futsal team played two matches against Russia U20 in September 2024, the Vietnam U20 men’s national football team had two matches with their Russian counterparts in the same month, and the Vietnam men’s national football team played Russia on September 5, 2024.
Additionally, the AFC has conducted the draw for the 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Championship qualifiers. Vietnam, under coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang, will compete in Group D alongside Myanmar (the host), Chinese Taipei, and Macau. The qualifiers will take place in January 2025.
