The 2024/2025 National Cup qualifiers have garnered significant attention with notable debuts from players like Cong Phuong and Hoang Duc at their new clubs.
This stage of the competition promises exciting matchups. After spending over a year with Yokohama FC, Cong Phuong decided to return to Vietnam, joining Binh Phuoc FC. Given his lengthy absence from competitive play, starting at a lower-tier club in the V.League 2 is seen as a suitable way for him to regain his form.
Binh Phuoc will kick off their season at home against youth Ho Chi Minh City FC , a club that has undergone several personnel changes ahead of the new season. Many players from youth Ho Chi Minh City FC have transferred to Ninh Binh FC, while in return, some Ninh Binh players have joined youth Ho Chi Minh City FC.
In addition to Cong Phuong, Binh Phuoc FC boasts a roster featuring seasoned players with extensive V.League experience, such as Tan Truong, Tan Sinh, Sam Ngoc Duc, and Ho Tuan Tai. This has led to heightened anticipation surrounding their opening match, particularly regarding Cong Phuong’s return to domestic football.
While Cong Phuong seeks a steady environment to regain his form, Hoang Duc’s decision to join Ninh Binh FC has sparked debate. Previously a key player for The Cong Viettel, a powerhouse in the V.League, Hoang Duc’s move to a V.League 2 team has raised eyebrows.
During the early part of the season, when his future was uncertain, Hoang Duc’s performances for The Cong Viettel were underwhelming. Additionally, his appearances for the national team during the September and October 2024 FIFA Days were lackluster, failing to leave a lasting impression.
Fans are now eagerly awaiting Hoang Duc’s debut in his new club’s colors. Given his proven abilities, the question remains whether he can lead Ninh Binh through their challenges as they face V.League club Ho Chi Minh City FC in an away match.
