Hanoi FC has officially announced the departure of Dutch midfielder Keziah Veendorp, who struggled to make an impact since joining the V-League club during the summer 2024 transfer window. Veendorp’s arrival had initially sparked excitement due to his impressive background, which included stints with the Netherlands U16, U17, and U18 teams.
In the 2014 UEFA European U17 Championship, Veendorp served as captain and led his team to the finals alongside notable players like Donny Van de Beek and Steven Bergwijn. Standing at 1.87 meters, he demonstrated leadership and skill on the international stage. His club career largely centered around FC Emmen in the Dutch Eredivisie, where he made 173 appearances, scored three goals, and provided 10 assists.
Despite his experience and pedigree, Veendorp failed to make an impression at Hanoi FC. He played only one match for a total of 18 minutes, which led the club to terminate his contract. The decision to release Veendorp was effectively made before the V-League’s third round, when Hanoi FC replaced him by signing former The Cong Viettel player Jaha. However, the club publicly announced Veendorp’s departure on November 7.
Hanoi FC has also faced disappointment with other foreign signings from the 2024 summer transfer window, including Kwem Augustine Chidi and Joao Pedro, both of whom have underperformed. If the situation does not improve, these players may also face potential replacement in the league’s second phase as Hanoi FC seeks to strengthen its roster.
