Avoids snow, Vietnam national team practices surprise tactics in preparation for second match in South Korea

On November 28, 2024, the Vietnam national football team continued their preparations for the upcoming ASEAN Cup 2024 with a training session at the artificial turf Smart AirDome Gyeongju, located in South Korea.  The team chose this indoor venue to avoid the harsh weather conditions, including snow, that were affecting other parts of the country, allowing them to maintain focus on their training regimen.

According to head coach Kim Sang Sik, the players performed well in their first friendly match against Ulsan Citizen FC, which took place the day before. This match provided valuable insights and data on the team’s performance in different positions on the field. The coaching staff used this information to identify areas of improvement and fine-tune the team’s playing style.

In today’s training, Coach Kim and his assistants prioritized refining the team’s tactics and addressing the weaknesses that emerged during the friendly match. The Korean coach worked tirelessly throughout the session, carefully making adjustments for the players, focusing on the smallest details. He emphasized the importance of precise passing, effective coordination, and the need for simplicity in the team’s play to ensure high efficiency.

One of the key elements in the training was to enhance the understanding of the tactical approach for each player. The team focused on creating fluid movements and improving their overall tactical awareness. Coach Kim instructed the players to keep the play straightforward and efficient, aiming to implement the tactical ideas he has been developing with them.

As the team gears up for their second friendly match, they continue to build on the lessons learned from their first encounter. The focus remains on solidifying their game strategy and ensuring that the players are fully prepared for the challenges of the ASEAN Cup 2024. The next test for the team will be against Daegu FC on November 29, 2024, at 14:30 local time (12:30 Vietnam time), providing another opportunity to further refine their tactical approach and assess their readiness for the tournament.

With each passing day, the team is fine-tuning their skills and adapting to Coach Kim’s vision. The aim is to have a well-rounded and cohesive squad by the time they begin their campaign in the ASEAN Cup, with high expectations for a strong performance in the regional tournament.
