The Vietnam national football team is set to return home on December 3rd, 2024, following their successful training camp in South Korea. Head coach Kim Sang Sik plans to call up additional players from Nam Dinh FC to complete the squad ahead of the ASEAN Cup 2024.
On December 1st, Vietnam concluded their friendly matches in South Korea with a 3-1 victory over Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in Gyeongju. This win marks a crucial step in Vietnam’s preparation for the upcoming ASEAN Cup.
Coach Kim Sang Sik opted for a consistent approach by fielding a similar lineup in this match as in previous friendlies. The team played two different formations in each half, allowing the coaching staff to closely observe the form and abilities of each player. This strategy helped the coach fine-tune the squad and identify the core group of players for the ASEAN Cup.
In the match, Quang Hai, Dinh Thanh Binh, and Duy Manh were the scorers, securing a convincing 3-1 win for Vietnam. Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors managed to score a penalty in the 53rd minute, but it was a mere consolation goal.
Following the conclusion of the training camp, the team will return to Vietnam on December 3rd to continue their preparation for the ASEAN Cup. The squad will be further strengthened by the addition of players from Nam Định FC once they finish their AFC Champions League Two 2024/25 group stage match on December 4th.
As per regulations, Vietnam will register a maximum of 26 players for the ASEAN Cup 2024. Coach Kim Sang Sik will finalize the squad to ensure the strongest possible team for the regional competition, with the goal of securing the championship.
