On the evening of December 21, Vietnam secured a dominant 5-0 victory over Myanmar at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho), earning a spot in the semifinals of the ASEAN Cup 2024.
Speaking after the match, Myanmar coach Myo Hlaing Win offered his congratulations to the Vietnamese team and shared his perspective on the game:
“First, I want to congratulate the Vietnam team on advancing to the semifinals. In this match, we organized our defense well in the first half and even created some chances. However, in the second half, we made several mistakes, leading to the goals conceded.
“Vietnam has many experienced players, and that made it difficult for us to avoid conceding repeatedly. In our group, Vietnam only drew one match, proving that they are a very strong team. Your biggest competition will be Thailand. I wish Vietnam the best of luck in the next stages of the tournament.”
With this result, Vietnam topped Group B and will face Singapore in the semifinals of the ASEAN Cup 2024. The first leg is scheduled for December 26, with the second leg taking place three days later.
Meanwhile, Myanmar finished fourth in Group B with four points, concluding their campaign at this year’s tournament.
