On the afternoon of December 24, the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) issued a surprising announcement regarding ticket sales for the first leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup semifinals between Vietnam and Singapore.
In an official statement on its website, FAS announced: “This is an important notice for all visiting fans. We will not sell tickets at Jalan Besar Stadium as initially planned. Instead, tickets will be allocated through the Vietnam Football Federation.”
Singaporean media described this decision as unexpected. According to the schedule, the first-leg semifinal between Vietnam and Singapore is set to take place at 8:00 PM on December 26 at Jalan Besar Stadium, which has a capacity of about 6,000 spectators. FAS had previously stated that approximately 300 tickets would be allocated to Vietnamese fans, with the remaining 5,700 tickets reserved for Singaporean supporters. Starting December 22, FAS began selling tickets directly to Singaporean fans at the stadium gate. The demand for tickets was overwhelming, with all tickets selling out within hours.
Initially, 300 tickets for Vietnamese fans were expected to go on sale at 3:00 PM on December 26 at Jalan Besar Stadium. “Vietnamese fans were allocated 300 tickets to watch the semifinal first leg, with each ticket priced at 38 Singapore dollars (approximately 710,000 VND). These tickets were set to be sold five hours before kickoff. However, the plan has now changed, and FAS has not clarified the reason,” Channel News Asia reported.
Following this sudden change, FAS reiterated important reminders: “The above arrangement has been made for the safety and interests of all spectators. Match organizers reserve the right to deny entry to visiting fans who violate the regulations. Additionally, if they are found sitting in areas designated for Singaporean supporters, visiting fans will also be asked to leave the stadium.”
Be fair…I’m Singaporean. Let them have their tickets. Why FAS so cruel. Let the Vietnamese in Singapire support their team. Their VFF can give us for our team 2 leg away game. Why we can’t give them. FAS open your mind wider. Don’t be selfish!
