Thais warn Vietnamese fans about counterfeit tickets

As excitement builds for the AFF Cup 2024 final second leg between Vietnam and Thailand, fans are facing challenges in securing tickets for the highly anticipated match at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok. A hotel receptionist hosting reporters from Vietnam Sports News warned Vietnamese supporters to be cautious when buying tickets.

“Tell Vietnamese fans to look for reliable and legitimate ticket sources. Don’t rush to trust people selling tickets on social media, as they might provide counterfeit tickets,” the receptionist advised.

Ticket Prices and Scalping Concerns

According to reports, tickets for the match were sold out within two hours of being released. The 47,000 seats at Rajamangala Stadium were quickly snapped up, reflecting the high demand for what is expected to be an electrifying game.

The tickets were originally priced in four categories: 250 Baht, 300 Baht, 400 Baht, and 500 Baht. However, resellers have drastically inflated these prices. The lowest-tier ticket, priced at 250 Baht, is being resold for 600 Baht (about 420,000 VND). Similarly, tickets priced at 300 Baht and 400 Baht are now being offered for 700 Baht (510,000 VND) and 900 Baht (670,000 VND), respectively. Premium tickets, originally priced at 500 Baht, are being resold for as much as 1,500–2,000 Baht (approximately 1.5 million VND).

Mixed Confidence Among Thai Fans and Experts

Thai fans are hopeful but cautious about their team’s chances of overturning the 1-2 deficit from the first leg. While optimism remains high for a comeback led by Suphanat Muenta and his teammates, not all believe Thailand can achieve the two-goal margin needed to secure the championship.

Football expert Buranich Ratanavichien provided a critical assessment of Thailand’s performance in the first leg. “The Thai team didn’t travel to Vietnam with their strongest squad and wasn’t in peak physical condition,” he said. “I don’t think Thailand played poorly. We controlled possession, and the hosts didn’t create too much pressure. After a goalless first half, if we hadn’t made mistakes, we could have drawn the match. The second goal was a major error. Chalermsak Aukkee took a risky move, pushing forward like that. He shouldn’t have done it.”

The Stage is Set for the Decisive Match

The AFF Cup 2024 final second leg will kick off at 8:00 p.m. on January 5 at Rajamangala Stadium. With Vietnam holding a narrow 2-1 advantage from the first leg, the pressure is on Thailand to deliver a commanding performance. For Vietnamese fans attending the match, ensuring legitimate ticket purchases remains a priority as they prepare to cheer on their team in what promises to be a thrilling conclusion to the tournament.
