Hanoi FC signs Canadian-Vietnamese player

Hanoi FC has officially signed Vietnamese-Canadian midfielder Pierre Lamothe, marking another notable transfer in the ongoing V-League 2024/2025 season. Pierre Lamothe will join Hanoi FC for the remainder of the current campaign, strengthening their midfield options.

The 28-year-old midfielder completed his contract with Pacific FC in the Canadian Premier League on January 1, 2025, and has chosen to return to Vietnam. Lamothe is no stranger to Vietnamese football fans, having played on loan for Quang Nam FC during the 2023/2024 season. He left a strong impression with his energetic, skillful, and passionate performances.

Standing at 1.73 meters, Lamothe is versatile, capable of playing as a central or attacking midfielder. His addition will bolster Hanoi FC’s squad depth as they gear up for the second phase of the V-League season. The team also features another Vietnamese-Canadian player, Kyle Colonna.

Speaking to the media after joining Hanoi FC, Lamothe expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m thrilled to be part of Hanoi FC, a club with a rich tradition and great ambition in Vietnam. I will give my best to help the team achieve success and also develop myself further, hoping for an opportunity to represent the Vietnam national team in the future.”

Lamothe’s signing follows Hanoi FC’s acquisition of Croatian midfielder Luka Bobičanec. Bobičanec is expected to make his debut for Hanoi FC on January 24, 2025, when the team faces Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) in Round 11 of the V-League 2024/2025.
