Tien Linh suffers knee injury, doubtful for national team call-up

Tien Linh sustained a knee injury during Binh Duong’s match against The Cong Viettel, putting his availability for Vietnam’s March 2025 training camp in doubt.

In the 73rd minute, Binh Duong head coach Cong Manh was forced to substitute Tien Linh, bringing on Timite after the striker went down in pain. The Binh Duong captain had slipped and collided with center-back Bui Tien Dung of The Cong Viettel just moments earlier.

Tien Linh was visibly in pain and required medical attention. Team doctors rushed onto the field, applying ice packs to reduce swelling before signaling for an immediate substitution. Even after being taken off the pitch, the 2024 Vietnam Golden Ball winner was seen covering his face in distress, worrying fans in attendance.

Immediately after the match, Vietnam’s national team medical staff and head coach Kim Sang Sik were informed about Tien Linh’s injury.

Further medical assessments will be needed to determine the exact severity of the injury. However, with Vietnam’s training camp approaching, Tien Linh’s availability remains uncertain.

If Tien Linh is ruled out, Vietnam’s attack will face difficulties in their upcoming matches against Cambodia (March 19) and Laos (March 25). The team had already lost key striker Xuan Son to a long-term injury, making Tien Linh’s absence a major concern.

Vietnam’s training camp is scheduled to begin on March 11 in Binh Duong as they prepare for the two upcoming matches
