Do Duy Manh: Vietnam is not afraid of Malaysia’s new naturalized players

Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi), 6 June, 2025 – On the morning of June 6, the Vietnam national team departed for Malaysia to prepare for their upcoming match against the host nation in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. At Noi Bai Airport, team captain Do Duy Manh took the time to give an interview.

Central defender Do Duy Manh shared: “Through the media, we know that Malaysia has several high-quality naturalized players. The upcoming match will not be easy, especially when playing at Bukit Jalil Stadium. The entire team is in good spirits and is actively preparing for the final stages to perform well against Malaysia. I believe the coaching staff has already researched the opponent’s data and performance through match videos.”

Duy Manh continued: “Once we arrive in Malaysia, the coaching staff will review everything in more detail and show the team additional footage to come up with the best tactics. We are, of course, aware of the challenges posed by the heat and difficulty of playing at Bukit Jalil. Playing away has never been easy, especially with the significance of this match, which is one of the most important of 2025 for the team. Malaysian fans are very passionate, and we’ve played at Bukit Jalil before in the 2018 AFF Cup final, so we understand the intensity of the atmosphere.”

The team will strive to adapt to the weather as best as possible and train hard to ensure they are well-prepared. “To say that the Vietnam team is unprepared (due to injuries or the weather) would not be entirely true. It’s unfortunate that some players are injured, and we all hope for the best possible squad for thorough preparation. Coach Kim Sang-sik and the coaching staff will have strategies in place to prepare for this strong opponent,” Duy Manh added.

“In Southeast Asian football, many teams now have naturalized players, and we must adapt to that. We will give our best against any opponent. But I believe the Vietnam national team is not alone in this journey, and I hope Vietnamese fans will continue to support us and boost our spirit for the match against Malaysia on June 10,” Duy Manh concluded confidently.

The match between Malaysia and Vietnam will take place at Bukit Jalil Stadium on the evening of June 10.
