Hanoi, 13 June, 2025 – Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team played an important semifinal match against the Kazakhstan women’s team and won to advance to the final.
On the evening of June 13, at the Dong Anh Sports Hall (Hanoi), the Vietnam women’s volleyball team competed in the AVC Nations Cup 2025 semifinal against Kazakhstan. One year ago, the two teams faced off in the final of the AVC Challenge Cup 2024 (the predecessor to the AVC Nations Cup), where Vietnam won the championship. A year later, both teams remained determined in their match in Dong Anh (Hanoi).
Before the match, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet shared that the large crowd of spectators was a pressure that the Vietnamese players had to overcome. Therefore, the coaching staff arranged the best lineup. Setter Doan Thi Lam Oanh coordinated the plays with crucial second passes. In the attacking positions, outside hitter Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, and the two main attackers, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, took on the responsibility of scoring points. When the team played effectively, the coordination led to the best points.
In the first set, the Vietnam women’s volleyball team won decisively 25-15. In the second set, due to a dip in spirit, the team lost 19-25. However, in the remaining sets, Vietnam won 25-7 and 25-16.
Ultimately, the Vietnam women’s volleyball team won 3-1 and secured a spot in the final. This is the third consecutive time Vietnam has reached the final of the AVC Nations Cup. Reaching the final also guarantees the Vietnam women’s volleyball team a spot in the FIVB Nations Cup 2025 for women. The final of the AVC Nations Cup 2025 will be held on June 14. Vietnam will face the winner of the other semifinal between the Philippines and Taiwan.
