Hanoi, 25 July, 2025 – Binh Phuoc are set to be promoted to V.League 1 for the 2025/2026 season after Quang Nam failed to confirm their future due to financial difficulties. The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has officially chosen a replacement plan for the upcoming professional and non-professional football tournaments.
With Quang Nam unable to meet the confirmation deadline, either Binh Phuoc or PVF-CAND will be selected to fill the vacant spot in V.League 1. Based on last season’s standings, Binh Phuoc are given priority, followed by PVF-CAND.
However, if both clubs decline the opportunity to be promoted, the 2025/2026 season will proceed with only 13 participating teams instead of 14.
The situation with Quang Nam appears to be nearing a conclusion despite reports that a potential sponsor was considering stepping in to rescue the club. Even with the deadline being extended from July 23 to the afternoon of July 24, Quang Nam were unable to finalize their plans.
Binh Phuoc now have a strong chance to step into Vietnam’s top-tier league. The club has been actively preparing for the new season, already adding 11 new signings. However, if officially promoted, Binh Phuoc will need to significantly revise their preparation plans and squad strategy to compete at the higher level of V.League 1.
As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on whether Binh Phuoc accept the promotion and how they adjust their roadmap should they officially replace Quang Nam.
