Hanoi, 8 August, 2025 The 2025 edition of the Vietnamese Women’s National Football Championship – Thai Son Bac Cup will see only six teams competing, as Son La and Hanoi II have officially withdrawn from the tournament. This announcement was made during the sponsorship unveiling and match schedule draw ceremony held in Hanoi on August 8.

The six participating teams include Hanoi, Phong Phu Ha Nam, Ho Chi Minh City I, Ho Chi Minh City II, Than Khoang San Vietnam (Than KSVN), and Thai Nguyen T&T. The opening fixtures will feature Thai Nguyen T&T facing Than KSVN, Ho Chi Minh City II clashing with Ho Chi Minh City I, and Hanoi going up against Phong Phu Ha Nam.

The tournament will be played in a double round-robin format, with home and away legs hosted at selected local venues. Points will be tallied to determine the rankings from first to sixth place. The champion will earn the right to represent Vietnam at the AFC Women’s Champions League 2026/27.

The first leg of the tournament is scheduled to run from September 4 to September 21, 2025, while the return leg will take place in Hanoi from September 26 to October 13.

At the event, VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu stated:
“Thanks to the efforts of the Vietnam Football Federation, the determination of participating clubs, and the long-term commitment of our sponsor Thai Son Bac, the women’s national championship has steadily grown more professional, delivering exciting matches. This tournament serves as a foundation for experts to identify top talents for our national women’s teams, especially the senior Vietnam women’s national team.”

He also highlighted recent achievements of the “Golden Star Women Warriors,” noting their qualification for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 in Australia and their current standing at 37th in the FIFA rankings, sixth in Asia.

Representing the tournament’s main sponsor, Mr. Tran Anh Minh – General Director of Thai Son Bac Trading and Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd. – expressed pride in their continued support:
“This marks the 14th consecutive year Thai Son Bac has accompanied the Vietnamese Women’s National Championship as the main sponsor. It’s an honor to help build the brand of this competition. At the same time, the tournament has positively shaped the image of Thai Son Bac among our customers. We are committed to ensuring stability and sustainability for the tournament, creating a consistent platform for future generations of women footballers.”

Despite the absence of two teams, the 2025 season promises to deliver a highly competitive and professional platform for Vietnamese women’s football as it continues its upward trajectory both regionally and internationally.
