Hanoi, 8 August, 2025 – V.League 1 – 2025/2026 season is set to bring a fresh wave of excitement, increased competition, and a record prize pool of 9.5 billion VND for the top three teams. The season opener between Hanoi Police FC and The Cong Viettel will take place at 19:15 on August 15, 2025, at Hang Day Stadium in Hanoi, officially launching the most anticipated domestic football campaign in recent years.
This year’s league will feature 26 rounds and a total of 182 matches among 14 professional clubs. Notably, several teams have undergone rebranding. Binh Duong has been renamed to Becamex Ho Chi Minh City FC, while the former Ho Chi Minh City FC now takes the name Cong An Ho Chi Minh FC. The complete lineup includes Thanh Hoa FC, Hanoi FC, Hai Phong FC, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Ninh Binh FC, PVF-CAND FC, Da Nang FC, Song Lam Nghe An, Nam Dinh FC, and The Cong Viettel.
One of the major highlights of the 2025/2026 season is the expected rise in competitiveness, driven by the return of intense local derbies and increased stakes. With two relegation spots now up for grabs — compared to previous seasons — every position on the table will matter more than ever.
Adding to the pressure, the league will offer only two slots for the AFC qualifying rounds, instead of the one direct slot granted in previous seasons. This adjustment pushes clubs to aim not just for domestic glory but also for a chance to compete on the continental stage.
The total prize pool this season has been boosted to 9.5 billion VND. The champions will receive the trophy, gold medals, and a cash prize of 5 billion VND. The runners-up will take home silver medals and 3 billion VND, while the third-place team will earn bronze medals and 1.5 billion VND.
With enhanced rewards, a higher level of competitiveness, and strategic changes to league dynamics, the V.League 1 – 2025/2026 is poised to be a thrilling journey for clubs and fans alike, promising a season full of drama, passion, and top-tier Vietnamese football action.
