Hanoi, 8 August, 2025 – On the evening of August 8, U20 Vietnam delivered a commanding 6-0 win over U20 Hong Kong in their second match of Group B at the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers. From the opening whistle, the Vietnamese side—superior in both skill and tactics—pressed high and asserted control.
The breakthrough came in the 16th minute when striker Hoai Trinh capitalized on a defensive error to slot home the opening goal. Riding the momentum, Hoai Trinh doubled the lead in the 34th minute. Seizing on another mistake from the Hong Kong center-back, she intercepted the pass and rifled a low shot into the near corner to make it 2-0.
Just before halftime, midfielder Thanh Hieu added a third with a composed finish, putting Vietnam firmly in the driver’s seat after 45 minutes.
In the second half, coach Okiyama Masahiko’s team continued to dominate possession and push forward. In the 65th minute, Thuy Linh scored a stunning goal from a direct free-kick to increase the margin to 4-0. Merely two minutes later, Hoang Van dazzled with a solo run before calmly slotting past the keeper for Vietnam’s fifth goal.
The final blow came in the 89th minute when substitute Thuy Nga converted from close range, sealing a comprehensive 6-0 victory.
With this result, U20 Vietnam now sits comfortably atop Group B with six points from two matches, scoring 11 goals and conceding none. The team is firmly on course to advance to the final stage of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026.
