Vu Thi Trang reaches women’s singles final at Vietnam International Series 2025

Ninh Binh, 25 October 2025 – Vietnam’s top badminton player Vu Thi Trang advanced to the women’s singles final of the Vietnam International Series 2025, following an impressive straight-game victory over Malaysia’s Eng Ler Qi in the semifinals on October 25 in Ninh Binh.

Vietnamese badminton fans received exciting news as national star Vu Thi Trang secured her place in the final of the Vietnam International Series 2025 after a dominant performance in the women’s singles semifinals. Facing Malaysia’s No.3 seed Eng Ler Qi, Trang showed her class and composure to win 2-0 (15-5, 18-16), booking a well-deserved ticket to the championship match.

The 32-year-old Vietnamese veteran started strongly, overwhelming her opponent in the first game with sharp smashes and precise net play to take it 15-5. The second game proved more competitive, as both players traded points in a tense battle. However, Trang maintained her calm under pressure, winning two decisive rallies at the end to close the game 18-16 and seal the match.

In the final on October 26, Vu Thi Trang — the tournament’s top seed — will face Oo Shan Zi of Malaysia, the No.2 seed, in what promises to be an intense showdown between two of Southeast Asia’s most experienced players.

Vietnam’s success at the home tournament did not stop there. In the men’s doubles event, the Vietnamese pair Nguyen Dinh Hoang and Tran Dinh Manh also advanced to the final after defeating Thailand’s Nontakorn Thong-On and Thanadol Yunmongkol 2-0 in the semifinals. They will battle another Thai duo, Weeraphat Phakjarung and Tanupat Viriyangkura, for the title.

With two Vietnamese representatives reaching the finals, host nation Vietnam is guaranteed strong contention for medals at this year’s Vietnam International Series, which concludes on October 26 with five championship matches.

Following the tournament in Ninh Binh, Vietnamese shuttlers will continue their competitive schedule at the Vietnam International Challenge in Bac Ninh, beginning October 28, as part of their preparation for upcoming international events.
