Hanoi, 23 November 2025 – As the V.League 1 title race enters its decisive stage, Hanoi Police FC have officially added Doan Van Hau to their second-phase squad list, marking a long-awaited reinforcement that could reshape both the club’s ambitions and the plans of the Vietnam national team.
In a pivotal move ahead of the V.League 1 second phase, Hanoi Police FC have completed registration for left-back Doan Van Hau, signalling one of the most significant squad upgrades of the season as the defending National Cup champions push to compete on multiple fronts. The timing is especially important as the league approaches its climax, with Hanoi Police FC still balancing domestic ambitions and continental commitments.
Van Hau has been sidelined for nearly two years due to a persistent heel injury, requiring surgery and multiple treatment trips abroad. Over recent weeks, however, the 1999-born defender has returned to full training and quickly integrated into the team’s rhythm. His inclusion in the second-phase squad list carries major technical value while also providing a psychological lift to a Hanoi Police FC defence that showed vulnerabilities throughout the first leg of the campaign.
Known for his strength, timing, physical dominance, and experience at major international tournaments, Van Hau is expected to immediately fortify Hanoi Police FC’s left flank. The defender’s recent appearance as captain during the club’s friendly match in Singapore further demonstrates the confidence placed in him by coach Polking and the coaching staff.
For Hanoi Police FC, Van Hau’s return is a decisive reinforcement. For Vietnam, it may be even more meaningful. If he regains peak condition, the national team will benefit greatly from his comeback, especially with AFF Cup 2026 taking place in July and the crucial Asian Cup 2027 qualifier against Malaysia approaching in late March 2026. His presence will offer coach Kim Sang Sik more tactical flexibility and valuable depth in a position that has lacked stability over the past year.
With a packed schedule across both domestic and regional competitions, Hanoi Police FC will count heavily on Van Hau’s experience and two-way contribution to strengthen their title push. As for the national team, his full return could not come at a better moment, opening up renewed optimism heading into a decisive year for Vietnamese football.
