SEA Games 33 diary: A visit to U22 Vietnam base camp in Bangkok

Bangkok, 1 December 2025 – The heat is rising in Bangkok, and I’m not just talking about the weather. With SEA Games 33 just around the corner, the excitement is palpable. But before the ball rolls, our Golden Star Warriors need a place to recharge, strategize, and sleep.

Today, I’m taking you on an exclusive tour of the U22 Vietnam squad’s “home away from home” in Bangkok. Based on the visuals we’ve snagged, the VFF (Vietnam Football Federation) has picked a winner. Welcome to The Quarter Ari.

First Impressions: Convenience is King

Looking at the exterior shot (check out that “Ari Hills” tower!), this isn’t just a hotel; it’s a fortress of convenience. Situated in the trendy Ari district, the hotel is integrated into a complex that has literally everything a player could need without stepping into the chaotic Bangkok traffic.

I spotted a 7-Eleven, a Boots pharmacy, and even a Starbucks right at the entrance. Need a late-night snack or a quick caffeine fix before a tactical meeting? It’s all right downstairs. This is crucial for keeping the team focused and secure.

️ The “Recharge Station” (The Rooms)

Stepping inside the rooms, the vibe changes from the bustling city to total zen. The design is modern and minimalist with calming neutral tones—perfect for keeping heads cool after a heated match.

I love the subtle Thai touch with the elephant-patterned wallpaper above the bed. Plus, check out that balcony with the glass railing! It offers plenty of natural light, which is great for waking up fresh. It looks clean, spacious, and importantly, soundproof enough to block out the city noise.

️ Fueling the Champions

They say an army marches on its stomach, and a football team is no different. The dining area looks absolutely top-tier.

We are talking high ceilings, modern lighting, and a massive buffet setup. The layout is open and airy (as seen in the birds-eye view photo), allowing the whole squad to eat together comfortably. The warm lighting makes it feel like a high-end restaurant rather than a cafeteria. This is where the team nutritionists will be working their magic to keep our boys at 100%.

️‍♂️ & ‍♂️ Recovery Mode: On

This is my favorite part of the tour. The facilities here are exactly what a professional team needs.

  • The Gym: It’s surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows offering a panoramic view of the Bangkok skyline. Running on those treadmills won’t feel like a chore with a view like that.

  • The Rooftop Pool: Just wow. Located high up, this infinity-style pool is the ultimate recovery zone. Imagine the players doing their cool-down laps or ice baths here with the wind breezing through. The orange and blue sun loungers add a pop of energy to the place, and the view of that unique tiered white building nearby makes for a stunning backdrop.

The Verdict?

U22 Vietnam is in good hands. The Quarter Ari strikes the perfect balance between luxury, privacy, and functionality. It’s modern, it’s well-equipped, and it sits in a great location.

The “base camp” is ready. The facilities are world-class. Now, all that’s left is for Coach and the boys to arrive and turn this comfort into gold medals.
