Vietnam wrestling team sweeps four finals at SEA Games 33

Bangkok, 18 December 2025 – Vietnam’s women’s freestyle wrestling team delivered a flawless performance on December 18, winning all four finals to secure a perfect record and bring a “golden rain” to the Vietnamese sports delegation at SEA Games 33.

The Vietnam wrestling team successfully completed their mission by claiming four victories from four finals at SEA Games 33-2025. On the afternoon of December 18, the women’s freestyle wrestling finals were held, and all four Vietnamese representatives emerged victorious, creating an outstanding medal haul for Vietnam in this discipline.

In the women’s 50 kg final, Do Ngoc Linh fought with determination and overcame her opponent to secure the first gold medal of the afternoon for Vietnam’s women’s freestyle wrestling team. Continuing the momentum, Nguyen Thi My Linh (53 kg), Nguyen Thi My Trang (57 kg), and Nguyen Thi My Hanh (62 kg) all went on to win their respective finals, completing a perfect golden day for Vietnamese wrestling. Notably, Nguyen Thi My Trang’s victory marked the 70th gold medal for the Vietnam Sports Delegation at SEA Games 33.

A remarkable highlight of this achievement is that My Trang, My Linh, and My Hanh are biological sisters. This marks the first time in SEA Games history that Vietnam has had three sisters competing in the same sport and all winning gold medals together. Two years ago, at SEA Games 32-2023 in Cambodia, My Trang and My Hanh had already claimed gold medals, and they successfully defended their titles at SEA Games 33-2025. Meanwhile, My Linh, competing at the SEA Games for the first time, showed great composure and confidence to secure victory in Thailand.

“We truly value the results achieved by our athletes. The team has completed its objective of winning this time. On the mat, everyone stayed highly focused to achieve the best possible results,” said Vietnam wrestling team leader Ta Dinh Duc in Thailand.

Looking back at the competition, all four Vietnamese female wrestlers established their dominance from the morning group stage. Their convincing victories helped build confidence heading into the finals in the afternoon. Winning all four women’s freestyle finals has given Vietnam wrestling a strong advantage in this discipline at SEA Games 33-2025. Previously, the Vietnam wrestling team had already secured three gold medals from four events in men’s Greco-Roman wrestling. On December 19, the team will continue competition in four men’s freestyle wrestling events.
