Hanoi, 23 December 2025 – At the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026, U23 Vietnam have been drawn in Group A alongside Jordan, hosts Saudi Arabia, and Kyrgyzstan. Coach Kim Sang Sik’s side will begin their campaign with a match against Jordan on January 6, 2026.
To prepare for the tournament, U23 Vietnam regrouped for training today, December 23. Speaking ahead of the session, midfielder Khuat Van Khang said:
“We had a few days off after winning the gold medal at SEA Games 33, and our spirits are very high right now. Of course, after such an intense tournament, having more rest would be ideal. But once the competition schedule is set, players must adapt in order to achieve the desired results.
“U23 Vietnam have reached the quarter-finals at the last two AFC U23 Asian Cups, so our goal is to go as far as possible at the 2026 finals. If we have the opportunity, the whole team wants to surpass our achievements from the previous tournaments. To do that, we must give our maximum effort and maintain the highest level of determination in every match, because all of our opponents are very strong.”
U23 Vietnam will continue training in Hanoi until December 26, before traveling to Qatar and then Saudi Arabia to take part in the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026.
