VFF maps out Vietnam’s road to the 2030 World Cup qualifiers

The roadmap for Vietnam’s campaign in the 2030 World Cup qualifiers was emphasized by Tran Quoc Tuan, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), during the 2025 annual review conference and the implementation plan for 2026 of the VFF Executive Department.

The conference was attended and directed by President Tran Quoc Tuan, along with VFF Vice President Nguyen Xuan Vu, Standing Committee member Nguyen Quoc Hoi, Head of Inspection Committee Nguyen Hien Luong, General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu, deputy general secretaries, leaders of the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, VPF representatives, editorial board members of Football Magazine, and all VFF executive staff. Representatives from the Criminal Police Department (C02) under the Ministry of Public Security were also present.

In his report, General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu highlighted that in 2025, under the close guidance of the VFF Executive Committee, the federation successfully managed a heavy workload and achieved notable progress, particularly in professional performance and administrative efficiency.

In terms of competitions and technical achievements, VFF organized and coordinated 18 tournaments nationwide, ranging from U9 to U21 levels, including futsal, women’s football, and professional leagues. The synchronized implementation of the FCMS software system significantly enhanced competition management and youth talent database development. Remarkably, Vietnamese football recorded a historic milestone in 2025 with seven national teams qualifying for the 2026 Asian Championship finals, alongside positive performances at the SEA Games, U23 Asian Cup, and U23 Southeast Asian Championship.

Refereeing and match supervision also saw important advancements, with more than 100 referees and supervisors officially contracted for the first time, establishing a legal foundation for professional standards and quality improvement. Coaching education expanded through cooperation with domestic universities and training centers, while AFC and FIFA-aligned license renewal regulations were applied.

In media, 2025 marked explosive growth with tens of millions of digital views, strengthening Vietnam’s football brand. Legal and club licensing processes were handled systematically, resolving both domestic and international disputes effectively. International relations continued to flourish, with three Vietnamese representatives serving on FIFA, AFC, and AFF committees.

Looking ahead to 2026, President Tran Quoc Tuan stressed key priorities: strengthening competition systems, youth and women’s football development, futsal expansion, referee quality enhancement, and international cooperation. Long-term objectives include thorough preparation for the 2030 World Cup qualifiers, reinforcing Vietnam’s ambition to compete at the highest global level.

He concluded by expressing confidence that Vietnamese football will continue achieving new successes in 2026, bringing pride and joy to fans nationwide.
