Thuy Linh cruises into Orleans Masters 2026 quarterfinals, set to face world top 20 opponent

France, 19 March 2026 – Vietnam’s badminton star Nguyen Thuy Linh has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Orleans Masters 2026 after a comfortable straight-sets victory over Hong Kong (China) player Lo Sin  Yan Happy. Her next challenge will be much tougher, as she is set to face a top-20 player in the world.

Following a demanding opening match against third seed Lin Hsiang Ti, Thuy Linh encountered a more manageable opponent ranked 75th globally. The Vietnamese No.1 quickly took control of the match with her sharp shot placement and excellent game management.

In the first set, she established an early lead at 7–3 and 11–5, steadily widening the gap with consistent pressure and precise rallies. Despite a brief response from her opponent, Thuy Linh closed the set convincingly at 21–12.

The second set followed a similar pattern, with Thuy Linh maintaining dominance throughout. She stayed ahead at key intervals and accelerated toward the finish, creating six match points before sealing a 21–14 victory. The match ended in straight sets, highlighting her clear superiority in both control and tactical execution.

Compared to her opening match, this round proved far less challenging, allowing Thuy Linh to showcase her rhythm and confidence on court.

In the quarterfinals, however, she will face a major test against Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara, the tournament’s fifth seed and current world No.20. Okuhara secured her spot with a straight-sets win over Manami Suizu (21–19, 21–11). Their highly anticipated clash is scheduled for 16:00 on March 20.
