China, 24 March 2026 – Speaking at the pre-tournament press conference for the CFA Team China International Tournament 2026, acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh emphasized that U23 Vietnam are not focused on immediate results, but instead aim to refine their playing style, strengthen team cohesion, and build a solid foundation for the long-term development of Vietnamese football.
At the press conference, Dinh Hong Vinh, on behalf of the Vietnam Football Federation, expressed gratitude to the Chinese Football Association and the local organizers for their excellent support. He praised the arrangements, including accommodation, training facilities, and overall tournament organization.
Highlighting the importance of the competition, the coach stated:
“This tournament provides valuable opportunities for us to gain experience and learn by competing against strong opponents such as U23 China, U23 North Korea, and U23 Thailand.”
When asked about the squad, Dinh Hong Vinh explained that the team is a blend of experienced players and promising young talents. The lineup includes players who have competed at the AFC U23 Asian Cup, such as Van Binh, Cong Phuong, and Van Thuan, alongside a new generation of younger players around the age of 21.
Regarding objectives, the acting coach reiterated that results are not the top priority. Instead, the focus is on improving both technical and tactical aspects while enhancing the connection between senior and younger players.
“Our main goal in this tournament is to refine our tactics and build better understanding within the squad. Step by step, we want to shape a strong U23 generation for upcoming competitions and the future,” he said.
According to the schedule, U23 Vietnam will open their campaign against U23 North Korea at 14:00 (Vietnam time) on March 25.
