Hanoi, 6 April 2026 – The Cong Viettel have officially proposed inviting foreign referees to officiate both matches against Ninh Binh FC in Round 21 of V.League 1 2025/2026 and the semi-finals of the 2026 National Cup.
On April 3, The Cong Viettel sent an official request to Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company, asking for international referees to take charge of these key fixtures. The two matches include the Round 21 clash in V.League 1 2025/2026 and the National Cup semi-final scheduled for June 11, 2026.
In the document, the club emphasized: “These are crucial matches that directly impact the final standings and title race of the teams. To ensure fairness, objectivity, and transparency in match officiating, as well as to enhance the credibility and professional quality of the competition, The Cong Viettel respectfully proposes that VPF appoint a team of international referees (including the main referee, VAR officials, and assistants if applicable) to officiate these matches.”
The Cong Viettel are currently awaiting a response from VPF. This is not the first time the club has made such a request. Most recently, on November 18, 2025, they submitted a similar proposal to invite foreign referees, but it was not approved.
