Vietnam futsal team make a strong start at 2026 ASEAN Futsal Championship

Thailand, 6 April 2026 – On the evening of April 6, the Vietnam national futsal team kicked off their 2026 ASEAN Futsal Championship campaign against Myanmar. The side coached by Diego Giustozzi dominated from the start but needed 12 minutes to break the deadlock. Tran Thai Huy surged down the right flank and delivered a cross for Nhan Gia Hung to open the scoring.

After taking the lead, Vietnam slowed the tempo toward the end of the first half before bursting into action right after the break. Just about 10 seconds into the second half, Tu Minh Quang set up Nguyen Da Hai, who finished clinically to make it 2-0.

Only two minutes later, Nguyen Da Hai struck again. The Vietnam pivo reacted quickly to tap in the rebound after goalkeeper Nyi Nyi Thant saved an initial effort from Ngoc Anh, extending the lead to 3-0.

After conceding multiple goals, Myanmar switched to a power-play strategy but failed to find the net. Meanwhile, Vietnam sealed a 4-0 victory in the 27th minute, thanks to a skillful finish from young player Nguyen Thac Hieu amid heavy pressure.

With a convincing 4-0 win over Myanmar, Vietnam made a strong start to the 2026 ASEAN Futsal Championship. In their next Group A match, Vietnam will face Timor-Leste at 17:30 on April 7, while Myanmar will take on hosts Thailand.
