Kazakhstan, 18 July 2026 – Vietnam’s national jujitsu team has begun its campaign at the 2026 Asian Jujitsu Championships, with Tran Thi Thanh Ha delivering the team’s first gold medal of the tournament in Kazakhstan.
Following the conclusion of the 2026 Asian Youth Jujitsu Championships, attention immediately turned to the senior continental championships, also being held in Kazakhstan.
On July 18, Vietnam time, Thanh Ha produced an impressive performance to claim the title in the women’s 52kg Fighting category, securing Vietnam’s first gold medal of the championships.
The event featured five competitors, including two representatives from Vietnam, Tran Thi Thanh Ha and Vuong Tran Hoai Thuong. The athletes competed in a round-robin format, with the competitor achieving the best overall results crowned champion.
After completing her matches, Thanh Ha finished at the top of the standings to secure the Asian championship title and bring home a valuable gold medal for Vietnam.
In addition to Thanh Ha’s gold, the Vietnamese jujitsu team has so far collected four bronze medals. Vuong Tran Hoai Thuong earned bronze in the women’s 52kg Fighting category, while Vu Thi Anh Thu claimed another in the women’s 63kg Fighting event. Tran Viet Hoan and Dao Hong Son also added bronze medals to Vietnam’s tally in the men’s 56kg Fighting category.
The 2026 Asian Jujitsu Championships will continue until July 19, local time, in Kazakhstan. This year’s competition has attracted 355 athletes representing 24 national teams, providing a high-level continental test for Asia’s leading jujitsu competitors.
Vietnam has sent several of its key athletes to the tournament as part of preparations for the 20th Asian Games (ASIAD 20). The team’s performances in Kazakhstan will provide an important assessment of the athletes’ current form and technical level, allowing the coaching staff to make necessary adjustments as they continue preparations for the major continental multi-sport event.
