Former Vietnam U23 defender joins Hanoi FC

Hanoi, 26 July 2026 – The 2026/27 V.League 1 transfer market continues to gather momentum, with Hanoi FC officially completing the signing of former Vietnam U23 defender Mai Sy Hoang following his departure from Hong Linh Ha Tinh.

The capital club announced the arrival of the left-back, making him the fourth new addition to the squad in recent days. He follows the signings of midfielders Bui Ngoc Long and Pham Duc Huy, as well as striker Andrew Jung, as Hanoi FC continue to strengthen their roster ahead of the new season.

Speaking after completing the move, Mai Sy Hoang expressed his excitement about joining one of Vietnam’s most successful clubs.

“A dream. A challenge. And I’m ready to write a new chapter with Hanoi FC,” he said.

Born in 1999, Mai Sy Hoang is a natural left-back who came through the renowned Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) youth academy. He also represented Vietnam U23 during Park Hang-seo’s tenure, earning recognition as one of the country’s promising young defenders.

Before joining Hanoi FC, Mai Sy Hoang enjoyed spells with Song Lam Nghe An and Ha Tinh FC. Over the past two V.League 1 seasons, he established himself as a key figure for Ha Tinh, consistently delivering solid performances and becoming one of the league’s most dependable left-backs.

His arrival is expected to fill the void left by Le Van Xuan, who departed Hanoi FC following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season. With his experience, defensive reliability, and familiarity with the V.League 1, Mai Sy Hoang is expected to provide both quality and competition on the left flank as Hanoi FC prepare for another title challenge in the 2026/27 campaign.
