Hanoi, 26 July 2026 – Vietnam national team returned to training on the morning of July 26 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center as preparations continued for their second ASEAN Cup 2026 group-stage match against Singapore, scheduled to take place at My Dinh National Stadium on July 31.
Following the team’s emphatic 7-0 victory over Timor-Leste and their return journey from Thailand to Hanoi, head coach Kim Sang-sik adjusted the training schedule by dividing the squad into two groups to carefully manage the players’ physical condition.
The group that started in the opening match focused primarily on recovery exercises under the supervision of the coaching staff and medical team, allowing them to regain full fitness after the demanding performance in Chonburi. Meanwhile, the remaining players completed a more intensive session centered on tactical drills and maintaining match fitness.

One of the most encouraging developments for Vietnam was the return of Nguyen Tai Loc to full training. The forward had previously been sidelined with a calf muscle strain and was left out of the squad for the opening match against Timor-Leste as a precautionary measure to avoid aggravating the injury.
His return gives Kim Sang-sik another attacking option ahead of the upcoming clash with Singapore and further strengthens Vietnam’s squad as the defending champions look to build on their impressive start to the tournament.
The comprehensive victory over Timor-Leste has boosted confidence throughout the camp, but the coaching staff remain fully focused on the challenges ahead. With four days to prepare before facing Singapore, Vietnam will use the remaining training sessions to fine-tune their tactics and ensure the squad is in peak condition.
Another victory at My Dinh National Stadium would not only move Vietnam closer to securing a place in the ASEAN Cup 2026 semifinals, but also strengthen their position at the top of the group as they continue their quest to successfully defend the Southeast Asian title.
