Nagoya, 24 Sep 2026 – Vietnam’s rowing team added another medal to the country’s ASIAD 2026 tally on September 24, with the women’s four securing bronze in the 2,000m final.
Vietnam quartet of Pham Thi Ngoc Anh, Ha Thi Vui, Le Thi Hien and Du Thi Bong lined up against crews from China, Uzbekistan, Japan, Kazakhstan and India in the women’s four final. The Vietnamese rowers made a strong start over the 2,000m course, maintaining a consistent pace to move into second place behind China during the early stages of the race.
Vietnam remained firmly in medal contention before dropping to third around the halfway mark at 1,000m. Despite pressure from the chasing crews, the four Vietnamese rowers maintained their rhythm over the second half of the race and successfully protected their position through to the finish line. They completed the course in 6:43.86 to secure the bronze medal. China dominated the final to take gold in 6:34.87, while Uzbekistan finished second and claimed silver with a time of 6:38.05.
Vietnam also competed in several other rowing finals on the same morning. In the women’s quadruple sculls, the crew of Bui Thi Thu Hien, Nguyen Thi Van Anh, Nguyen Thi Giang and Pham Thi Thao finished fifth with a time of 6:37.29. China once again took the title, crossing the finish line in 6:23.53.
Elsewhere, Ho Thi Duy placed sixth in the women’s lightweight single sculls final after recording a time of 7:58.22. Iran’s Fatemeh Mojallaltopraghghale won the gold medal in 7:24.57. In the women’s lightweight double sculls, Tran Thi Thu Hang and Luong Thi Thao narrowly missed out on the podium, finishing fourth with a time of 7:10.19.
The bronze won by Pham Thi Ngoc Anh, Ha Thi Vui, Le Thi Hien and Du Thi Bong was Vietnam’s first medal of the September 24 finals, adding another podium finish to the delegation’s campaign at the 20th Asian Games.
