Hanoi FC sign Curacao World Cup midfielder

Hanoi FC have completed the signing of Curacao international Kevin Felida, a midfielder who was part of his country’s squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as the capital club look to strengthen their squad following a difficult start to the V.League 1 2026/27 season.

Hanoi FC officially announced Felida as their latest addition, with the 26-year-old expected to provide greater quality and depth in midfield. Born on November 11, 1999, in Spijkenisse, the Netherlands, Felida holds both Dutch and Curacao nationality. He developed through the youth system at Den Bosch and made his senior debut for the club in 2018 before moving to RKC Waalwijk in 2022. The midfielder subsequently returned to Den Bosch in July 2025.

Standing 1.74 metres tall and predominantly right-footed, Felida operates primarily as a defensive midfielder but is also capable of playing in a more conventional central midfield role. His versatility could provide head coach Harry Kewell with additional options as Hanoi FC attempt to address their early-season struggles. Felida is currently valued at around €400,000 by Transfermarkt.

At international level, Felida opted to represent Curacao rather than the Netherlands and has made 17 appearances for the Caribbean nation since 2021, scoring once. A significant milestone in his international career came on May 18, 2026, when head coach Dick Advocaat included him in Curacao’s 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

However, Felida arrives in Hanoi following a relatively quiet period at club level. He made only five appearances across all competitions last season without registering a goal or assist. His limited playing time means there will inevitably be attention on how quickly he can regain match sharpness and adapt to Vietnamese football, although his experience in the Netherlands and at international level adds an intriguing dimension to Hanoi FC’s midfield.

The capital club are in need of a positive response after a difficult opening to the V.League 1 2026/27 campaign. Hanoi FC have lost both of their opening two league matches and currently sit 12th in the standings. Their problems have not been limited to the league, with Kewell’s side also suffering an early elimination from the National Cup following defeat to SHB Da Nang.

After the FIFA international window, Hanoi FC will resume their domestic campaign against newly promoted Bac Ninh FC in the third round of V.League 1. The fixture offers the six-time Vietnamese champions an opportunity to secure their first league victory of the season, while Felida’s arrival could provide a timely boost as the capital side look to reverse their early-season form.
