Da Nang, 2 June 2026 – The events of the 2026 Asian U17 Beach Wrestling Championships concluded in Da Nang, with host nation Vietnam finishing the tournament with an impressive haul of two gold medals.

Vietnam’s young wrestlers ended the competition with a total of eight medals, including two golds, three silvers, and three bronzes.

The gold medals were won by Lo Thi Hong in the women’s 45kg category and Bui Ngoc Thao Thom in the women’s 55kg division. Notably, both weight classes are included in the competition program for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games, which will take place in Senegal this October.

Vietnamese wrestling has already secured three official qualification places for the Youth Olympics. However, the coaching staff will continue to assess athlete performances before making final selections for the event.

For Bui Ngoc Thao Thom, the title represented a significant achievement. The young wrestler claimed a silver medal in the women’s 55kg category at the 2025 Asian Youth Games and has now taken another major step forward by capturing the Asian U17 crown on home soil. During the tournament, she defeated her main title rival, China’s Xueqin Li, to secure first place.

Meanwhile, Lo Thi Hong also delivered an outstanding performance in the women’s 45kg category, overcoming China’s Wuererzi Wuererzi to finish at the top of the standings.

In addition to the two gold medals, Vietnam earned silver medals through Ngo Minh Y (men’s 60kg), Ha Ly Quy Bao (men’s 90kg), and Chu Thi Huyen (women’s 57kg). The team’s bronze medals came from Dinh Kieu Trang (women’s 45kg), Pham Van Duong (men’s 60kg), and Pham Thua Quan (men’s 80kg).
