Vietnam volleyball reaches historic milestone at the 20th Asian Games

Hanoi, 3rd June 2026 – The Organizing Committee of the 20th Asian Games has officially announced the list of teams registered for the indoor volleyball competitions, with Vietnam set to compete in both the men’s and women’s events.

A total of 32 national teams will participate in the tournament, including 16 men’s teams and 16 women’s teams. In the women’s competition, the field features hosts Japan alongside traditional Asian powerhouses such as China, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. Other participating teams include Kazakhstan, Iran, Chinese Taipei, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, India, Indonesia, Hong Kong China, Mongolia, DPR Korea, and the Philippines.

The men’s tournament will also showcase many of Asia’s strongest volleyball nations, including Iran, China, South Korea, Japan, Pakistan, Thailand, Indonesia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Vietnam.

According to the competition schedule, the official draw for the volleyball tournaments will take place in July. Participating delegations are expected to submit their preliminary player lists during June before confirming their final rosters ahead of the Games.

The 20th Asian Games will be held in Japan from September 19 to October 4, bringing together the continent’s top athletes across a wide range of sports. Vietnam’s participation in both volleyball events reflects the country’s growing presence on the Asian volleyball stage and provides another opportunity for its national teams to compete against the region’s elite.
