Vietnam enjoyed a productive day at ASIAD 2026 on September 24, collecting one silver and seven bronze medals across wushu, rowing, eSports, weightlifting and athletics to significantly increase the delegation’s overall medal tally.
Vietnamese athletes were involved in a packed schedule across numerous sports during the day, including swimming, athletics, boxing, canoeing, fencing, gymnastics, rowing, shooting, beach volleyball, weightlifting and wushu. The standout result came from wushu athlete Dinh Van Tam, who secured silver in the men’s 56kg sanda event. His performance delivered Vietnam’s first silver medal of ASIAD 2026.
Alongside Dinh Van Tam’s silver, Vietnam collected seven bronze medals across four other sports. Rowing provided the biggest contribution with four bronze medals, while eSports, weightlifting and athletics each added one. In athletics, Vietnam reached the podium in the mixed 4x400m relay, with Ta Ngoc Tuong, Quach Thi Lan, Le Ngoc Phuc and Nguyen Thi Ngoc finishing third in 3:14.54 to claim the country’s first-ever Asian Games medal in the event.
The eight medals won on September 24 represented a significant boost to Vietnam’s campaign at the 20th Asian Games. With one silver and seven bronze medals added in a single day, the Vietnamese delegation increased its overall ASIAD 2026 tally to one gold, one silver and 15 bronze medals.
