Thuy Linh faces difficulties on the opening day of the 2024 Asian Badminton Championship

Right in the first round of the 2024 Asian Badminton Championship, Vietnam’s number one female player – Nguyen Thuy Linh faced a significant challenge.

Today, April 9, the 2024 Asian Badminton Championship officially commences in China. This time, the Vietnamese badminton team registers players Nguyen Thuy Linh, Nguyen Hai Dang (competing in singles events), Nguyen Dinh Hoang, Tran Dinh Manh, Pham Van Hai, Than Van Anh (competing in doubles events).

Among them, Nguyen Thuy Linh entered the main round of the women’s singles, and Nguyen Hai Dang also entered the main round of the men’s singles. The 2024 Asian Badminton Championship is also the last tournament for Vietnamese players to hope to accumulate tickets to the Paris 2024 Olympics.

After participating in European tournaments without a coach, at this 2024 Asian Championship, Thuy Linh has the Indonesian expert of the Vietnamese badminton team accompanying her as the director.

However, difficulties came early for Thuy Linh when her opponent in round 1 will be Aya Ohori (Japan). This player is currently ranked 13th in the world, eight places above Thuy Linh, and has been in good form recently.

If Thuy Linh overcomes this challenging opponent, she might face another “mountain” in round 2 with Tai Tzu Ying, the world’s number 3 player.
