Round 17 of Night Wolf V.League 1-2023/24: Intense at both ends of the standings

The second half of the Night Wolf V.League 1 2023/24 season continues to captivate with dramatic developments at both ends of the standings. The fans of Nam Dinh, also known as the Blue Steel Nam Dinh, continue to enjoy their splendid days as the team maintains its remarkable performance, irrespective of the venue.

In recent consecutive rounds, Blue Steel Nam Dinh faced direct competitors in the championship race, securing all six points available. In round 16, they capitalized on the defensive errors of Hanoi Police FC to score, and in round 17, their top scorer this season, Rafaelson, lit up the scoreboard with a hat-trick against Becamex Binh Duong.

Given such form, it’s no surprise that the fervent fanbase of Blue Steel Nam Dinh turned Hang Day Stadium into a sea of yellow in round 16 and then transformed Thien Truong Stadium into a real cauldron with 15,000 spectators during the match against Becamex Binh Duong.

Currently, Blue Steel Nam Dinh has managed to create a comfortable points gap from the chasing pack. However, Coach Vu Hong Viet remains cautious, stating that it’s still too early to discuss their championship prospects before the Night Wolf V.League 1-2023/24 season officially concludes.

While teams like Becamex Binh Duong, Hanoi Police FC, and Dong A Thanh Hoa struggled to achieve favorable results in round 17, MerryLand Quy Nhon Binh Dinh kept the championship hopes alive with a smooth 2-0 victory over Hong Linh Ha Tinh, climbing to third place on the leaderboard, just a point behind second-placed Becamex Binh Duong.

This season, MerryLand Quy Nhon Binh Dinh is the only team to have defeated the table-toppers, Blue Steel Nam Dinh, both at home and away, making them a formidable contender in this year’s title race.

While the championship race heats up with Blue Steel Nam Dinh’s scorching form, the battle at the bottom of the standings also deserves attention. LPBank Hoang Anh Gia Lai, with back-to-back 1-0 victories, has moved into a relatively safe mid-table position.

After round 17 of the Night Wolf V.League 1-2023/24, LPBank Hoang Anh Gia Lai has climbed to 10th place with 21 points, just three points behind fifth-placed Hai Phong FC. This outcome rewards LPBank Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s efforts, showcasing their resilience against The Cong Viettel and SLNA.

Also noteworthy in round 17, despite being mid-week matches, the games attracted a large audience with a total of 38,000 spectators attending the seven fixtures, averaging 5,429 fans per match. The quality of play has been commendable with 19 goals scored across the fixtures, averaging 2.71 goals per game, highlighting that Night Wolf V.League 1 2023/24 isn’t just intense in competition but also impressive in terms of technical quality.
