Vietnam’s women’s volleyball team unexpectedly rises in the world rankings

On June 1, the Vietnam women’s volleyball team achieved a remarkable rise in the Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) rankings, reaching a historic high.

Despite not playing any matches since their victory over Kazakhstan in the final of the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup on May 29, the Vietnam women’s volleyball team has ascended from 36th to 35th in the world rankings. This achievement marks the highest ranking ever for the Vietnamese women’s team.

The rise in the rankings for Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen and her teammates is attributed to the decline in points and ranking of the Bosnia & Herzegovina team. Specifically, the Vietnam women’s volleyball team now has 105.98 points, surpassing Bosnia & Herzegovina, which dropped to 36th with 104.62 points.

The upcoming match against the Philippines, ranked 55th globally, presents a significant opportunity for the Vietnam women’s volleyball team to further their success. With over a month of preparation, the team is hopeful that their star player, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, will fully recover from her injury and be ready to join her teammates on the court. Fans are eager to see the team compete at full strength, especially with the dynamic duo of Thanh Thuy and Bich Tuyen leading the charge.

The team’s recent achievements and rise in the rankings are a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the strategic guidance of their coaching staff. The victory in the AVC Challenge Cup not only boosted their confidence but also showcased their potential on an international stage.

Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet expressed optimism about the team’s future, stating, “Our goal is to continuously improve and compete at the highest level. The rise in rankings is a significant milestone, but we are focused on preparing for upcoming challenges and ensuring that our players are in peak condition.”

The Vietnam women’s volleyball team’s rise in the FIVB rankings reflects the growing strength and competitiveness of the sport in the country. The team’s success has inspired many young athletes and has brought attention to the importance of sports development in Vietnam.

As the team continues to prepare for their next matches, the focus remains on maintaining their momentum and building on their recent success. The support from fans and the volleyball community in Vietnam plays a crucial role in motivating the players and fostering a culture of excellence.

The upcoming match against the Philippines will be a critical test for the team, providing an opportunity to solidify their position in the rankings and demonstrate their capabilities on an international stage. The anticipation is high, and the Vietnam women’s volleyball team is ready to rise to the occasion, driven by their recent achievements and the support of their fans.

With the continued efforts and strategic planning, the future looks bright for the Vietnam women’s volleyball team as they aim for even greater heights in the FIVB rankings and international competitions.
