One year after being relegated from the V-League in the 2023 season, SHB Da Nang FC had the joy of lifting the First Division trophy at their home ground, Hoa Xuan Stadium, on the afternoon of June 23, marking their official return to the top tier of Vietnamese football.
Celebrations and Rewards
The mood at SHB Da Nang FC on June 23 was euphoric. A year ago, this central Vietnam team, with a rich history of three national championships and three runner-up finishes, faced the bitter reality of relegation. Today, under the guidance of coach Truong Viet Hoang, every member of the coaching staff and players were beaming with happiness. The Han River team secured their promotion by winning against Dong Thap at home in the previous round, but the joy was complete when they lifted the championship trophy on June 23, officially bidding farewell to the First Division and returning to the V.League 1.
As a reward for their achievement, SHB Da Nang FC received a prize of 2.2 billion VND.
Lessons Learned
A member of the coaching staff reflected on the past year: “Last year, Da Nang had control of their fate after beating Hanoi Police FC to gain a favorable points advantage over rivals Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City. However, critical personnel mistakes were the main reason for the team’s downfall. Several standout young talents were not trusted, replaced by veterans past their prime, leading to a lack of cohesion and unstable morale.
Foreign players, except for Lucao (now playing for Hai Phong), underperformed, causing a lack of confidence and becoming a burden for the entire team. We have learned bitter lessons from that experience, and in our return to the V.League 1 next season, we are committed to rebuilding the team better, with a plan for stability and development to restore the proud image of Da Nang football.”
The Final Match
In the final round 21 match against PVF-CAND, although the result did not affect their trophy celebration, coach Truong Viet Hoang still fielded the strongest lineup and played with determination. This approach ensured that the team finished the season on a high note, demonstrating their readiness for the challenges ahead in the V-League.
With the championship trophy in hand and valuable lessons learned from past mistakes, SHB Da Nang FC is poised to make a strong return to Vietnam’s top football league, aiming for stability and growth to reclaim their historic glory.
