Vietnam sports delegation has arrived safely in France and received a special welcome at the Olympic village

On the night of July 23, the head of the Vietnamese sports delegation at Olympic Paris 2024, Đặng Hà Việt, along with team officials and medical staff, departed for France. Prior to their arrival, many athletes from various sports had already joined the Olympic Village and commenced rigorous training sessions in preparation for the world’s largest sporting event.

After a long flight, all members safely arrived in Paris. Hoang Quoc Vinh, Head of High-Performance Sports Department 1 under the Department of Physical Training and Sports and a member of the Vietnamese sports delegation, stated, “Since the team has been traveling in stages over the past few days, only a little over ten members arrived at the airport. Everyone was received warmly and attentively, especially with excellent security measures and welcoming arrangements, which eased the team and alleviated much of the fatigue from the long journey.”

Members of the Vietnam sports delegation complete immigration procedures and receive their credentials from the 2024 Olympic organizing committee.

According to the French newspaper L’Equipe, similar to other sports delegations, all leaders, athletes, coaches, and staff are receiving special care. To cater to the dietary needs of over 10,000 people, the host country France has set up a restaurant chain within the expansive 46,000 square meter Olympic Village. Various food options suitable for Asian athletes’ dietary needs have been prepared. In addition to local chefs, 20 chefs from around the world have been selected to ensure cultural sensitivity at the village’s restaurants. Additionally, a separate world cuisine restaurant with a capacity of 600 people will provide further dining options. A dedicated team of 1,000 staff members will prepare and serve up to 40,000 meals daily.

The accommodation at the Olympic Village is meticulously maintained. The village boasts 2,800 apartments, with each room accommodating 4-8 members. Equipped with 345,000 pieces of furniture, the living spaces are designed for maximum comfort.

Vietnamese athletes will use recyclable cardboard beds throughout the duration of the Olympic Paris 2024. The mattresses have three different modules, allowing athletes to choose their preferred firmness and adjust them to suit their height.

Hoang Quoc Vinh expressed enthusiasm, “We were swiftly assisted with immigration procedures and will be moving to the Olympic Village near Saint Denis. The leadership team will meet with all coaches and athletes present today to review preparations in France. We will assign tasks to closely monitor the training sessions, living conditions, and overall well-being of all delegation members, ensuring optimal physical and mental health.”

As the Vietnamese delegation settles into the Olympic Village, they are focused on their training and final preparations for the competition. The Vietnamese athletes are determined to represent their country with pride and aim for high achievements at this prestigious global event.
