As of the evening of August 4th, following Nguyen Thi That’s completion of the women’s road cycling event, only two Vietnamese athletes remain in contention at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Nguyen Thi That finished the grueling 158 km road cycling race in a time of 4 hours, 10 minutes, and 47 seconds, placing 73rd out of 93 competitors. This is a commendable effort, especially considering that 14 riders did not finish the race.

With Nguyen Thi That having concluded her event, Vietnam’s hopes now rest on Trinh Van Vinh in the men’s 61kg weightlifting category and Nguyen Thi Huong in the C-1 200m canoeing event.

Trinh Van Vinh will compete in the men’s 61kg weightlifting event scheduled for the evening of August 7th. He will be up against 11 other athletes from the United States, Italy, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Georgia, Malaysia, Bulgaria, Papua New Guinea, and Kiribati. The competition is expected to be fierce, with each athlete vying for a coveted Olympic medal.

As the Tokyo Olympics progress, the focus will be on these two remaining athletes to deliver strong performances. Trinh Van Vinh’s weightlifting event is highly anticipated, with hopes for a strong showing against formidable opponents.
