Hanoi FC successfully signs former teammate of Manchester City star

On the evening of August 28, Hanoi FC officially announced the signing of striker João Pedro Sousa Silva, a former Portugal U20 international and a former teammate of Manchester City star Ruben Dias. The Portuguese-Guinean forward specializes in playing as a central striker. Last season, João Pedro played for Panetolikos in the Greek league. He will join Hanoi FC on a one-year contract.

With this signing, Hanoi FC will field a forward line consisting of two foreign players next season: João Pedro Sousa Silva and Augustine Chidi Kwem. The latter is valued at an impressive €850,000, making the pair a formidable duo up front.

In addition to João Pedro and Chidi Kwem, Hanoi FC has signed three other new players for the upcoming season: Keziah Veendorp, Ho Thanh Minh, and Chu Van Kien. With three foreign players on their roster—two strikers and one midfielder—the team has opted to rely on domestic players for their defensive lineup.

In other V-League transfer news, Ha Tinh FC has announced the signing of forward Noel Mbo. The striker, who holds both British and Congolese nationality, has agreed to a two-year contract with the Central Vietnam-based club. These strategic signings reflect the efforts of both Hanoi FC and Ha Tinh FC to strengthen their squads ahead of the new V-League season, aiming to enhance their competitiveness and achieve higher placements in the league standings.
