Vietnam women’s team falls 0-2 to RB Leipzig in first European training match

On the night of September 4 (Vietnam time), the Vietnam Women’s National Football Team faced Leipzig women’s team in the first match of their European training camp. The team traveled more than 200 kilometers from their base in the Czech Republic to Leipzig, Germany, to play against the Bundesliga side.

Despite the match being a friendly training encounter, the Vietnam women’s team was warmly supported by a large number of Vietnamese expatriates living and working in Germany, who attended the match to cheer on their home team.

Leipzig’s women’s team finished 8th in the Frauen-Bundesliga last season and recently secured a victory in their opening match of the 2024/2025 campaign. With their physical advantage and superior tactics, Leipzig controlled the game from the start, putting significant pressure on Vietnam’s defense.

The Vietnamese players tried to hold their own, but struggled to create many chances against Leipzig’s solid defense. The home side secured a 2-0 victory with goals from forwards Schimmer and Müller.

After this match, Coach Mai Duc Chung and his squad will return to the Czech Republic to prepare for their next match in the training camp, where they will face FK Pardubice on September 8.
