Meanwhile, the National Cup brings together professional teams from across Vietnam in a knockout format, ensuring an exciting tournament filled with surprises and high-stakes matches. Both competitions are set to kick off in mid-October 2024.

2024/2025 National Cup
The 2024/2025 National Cup will feature 14 V-League clubs alongside 11 First Division teams, totaling 25 teams. The tournament will be played in a knockout format across 25 matches, starting on October 19, 2024. The National Cup champion will be awarded a VND 2 billion prize.

To enhance the quality and professionalism of the tournament, VPF will continue to implement VAR technology during critical matches and rounds of the National Cup, ensuring fairness and accuracy in decision-making.

New Player Registration Rules
Both the National First Division and National Cup will implement new player registration rules for the 2024/2025 season. Each club will be allowed to register up to two overseas Vietnamese players, one more than was permitted in the 2023/2024 season. This rule change is expected to increase the competitiveness and attractiveness of the league by encouraging more overseas Vietnamese players to return and contribute to domestic football.

These developments, alongside the continued use of advanced technology like VAR and increased opportunities for overseas Vietnamese players, promise to make the 2024/2025 football season one of the most exciting and competitive in recent years. Fans can expect thrilling matches and a higher standard of football as teams vie for titles and promotion across the National First Division, National Cup, and the V-League.
