Coach Cristiano Roland shared his thoughts on player Tran Gia Bao, a key member from Hoang Anh Gia Lai , who is part of Vietnam’s U17 national team preparing for the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers.
The qualifiers feature 42 teams divided into 10 groups: one group of 3 teams, six groups of 4 teams, and three groups of 5 teams. Matches for the 5-team groups began on October 19, while the groups with 3 and 4 teams will start from October 23. Vietnam’s U17 group, which includes Yemen, Kyrgyzstan, and Myanmar, will begin their matches on October 23 at the Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho.
During the pre-match press conference held today, October 22, coach Cristiano Roland spoke about the team’s preparation and challenges. He stated, “We had two training camps in China and Japan, which provided the best preparation for this tournament. This is not an easy group; the challenges are tough, but Vietnam’s U17 team will give it their all.
During our time in Japan, we didn’t have Gia Bao with us, but the team continued training and preparing in the best way possible. Every player is important, and while his return is a valuable addition, our focus remains on the collective goal, showcasing our fighting spirit and unity.
I hope fans come out to support the team because this is youth football, and the players always need encouragement to reach their goals.”
As per the schedule for the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers, Vietnam’s U17 team will face U17 Kyrgyzstan on October 23, U17 Myanmar on October 25, and U17 Yemen on October 27.
