FIFA recently recognized Van Quyet’s record-breaking achievement as the highest-scoring Vietnamese player in V-League history. The announcement was shared on FIFA’s official TikTok channel, featuring an interview with the Hanoi FC captain alongside the message, “Proud of Nguyen Van Quyet,” with a football emoji and the Vietnamese flag.

In the video, Van Quyet expressed his hopes for Vietnamese football and his legacy. “I hope that our country and football continue to grow, so that our people and culture can be known more globally. Most importantly, I want future generations to remember me and my teammates as professional players who played with all their heart.”

He continued, “I don’t dare compare Vietnamese football to the world’s standards, but I hope future generations will feel proud of Van Quyet and Vietnamese football.”

FIFA highlighted the milestone achievement in November 2024, acknowledging Van Quyet as “the greatest domestic scorer in the history of the Vietnamese National Championship with 117 goals.” The video closed with the message, “Proud of Van Quyet. Proud of Vietnamese football.”

With a career spanning 288 matches and 117 goals, Van Quyet has scored in 15 consecutive V-League seasons. His accolades include five V-League titles, three National Cups, and five Super Cups. Individually, he has been named V-League Player of the Season three times and won the Vietnamese Golden Ball twice.

In addition to his club achievements, Van Quyet netted 16 goals in 60 appearances for the Vietnam national team. Following the October 2024 FIFA Days, Van Quyet announced his retirement from international football at 33, after an impressive performance against India.
