The Vietnam national athletics team has announced plans for an intensive training program in Nanning, China, starting December 2, 2024. The camp aims to enhance the team’s skills and fitness levels as part of their preparation for upcoming competitions.
The selection process involved recommendations from various event-specific coaching groups, resulting in 11 athletes being chosen for the training camp. Notable names on the roster include Huynh Thi My Tien, Le Ngoc Phuc, Quach Thi Lan, Tran Dinh Son, Bui Thi Nguyen, Hoang Thanh Giang, and Nguyen Thi Huong. These athletes have demonstrated exceptional performance in recent competitions and are expected to benefit greatly from the focused training.
This three-week program follows a series of efforts to prepare Vietnamese athletes for international challenges, including the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. It marks the latest step in the team’s journey to refine their skills and build endurance, a continuation of the momentum gained through rigorous training and international exposure earlier this year.
At the recently concluded 2024 National Athletics Championship in Dong Nai, the selected athletes showcased remarkable performances:
- Huynh Thi My Tien secured a gold medal in the women’s 100m hurdles.
- Le Ngoc Phuc clinched gold in the men’s 400m event.
- Quach Thi Lan triumphed in the women’s 400m hurdles.
- Hoang Thanh Giang earned gold in the women’s heptathlon.
- Bui Thi Nguyen emerged victorious in the women’s 200m race.
Following the championship, these athletes resumed their specialized training at various National Sports Training Centers across the country. The upcoming camp in China is designed to build on their recent successes by offering advanced training facilities and expert coaching tailored to their needs.
The training program will also serve as a critical evaluation period for the team, ensuring they are in peak condition for major tournaments in 2025 and beyond. Notably, the team will not participate in any international competitions for the remainder of 2024, focusing instead on refining their skills and recovery.
With this dedicated training initiative, the Vietnam athletics team aims to strengthen their position on the regional and global stage, building towards future successes in 2025 and beyond.
