On November 25, the Vietnam national football team continued their high-intensity training camp in South Korea as part of their preparations for the 2024 ASEAN Cup. This marks the team’s first overseas training since the World Cup qualifiers earlier in 2023, and they are focused on fine-tuning their strategies and strengthening their physical endurance in preparation for the upcoming competition.
The morning session focused on enhancing strength and muscle development, with the players working hard in the gym to increase their physical capabilities. In the afternoon, the team spent nearly two hours on tactical drills, honing their understanding of Coach Kim Sang Sik’s strategic approach. Coach Kim has emphasized the importance of tactical discipline, teamwork, and individual responsibility, pushing each player to meet the team’s expectations for the upcoming tournament.
The training has been progressing smoothly, with some positive news coming from the recovery of a few key players. Three players—Vu Van Thanh, Thanh Chung, and Dinh Bac—have successfully recovered from their injuries and rejoined the squad. Their return to full fitness has been a welcome boost for the team. On the other hand, Nguyen Quang Hai is still in the recovery process, working with the medical team. It is expected that Quang Hai will join full training starting tomorrow if his recovery progresses as planned.
Coach Kim has made it clear that the players must fully recover before returning to competitive training to ensure the best possible performance during the tournament. His disciplined approach to recovery reflects his commitment to the team’s long-term success, especially with the ASEAN Cup around the corner.
Today also marked a significant moment for the team, as Mr. Tran Anh Tu, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the team manager for the 2024 ASEAN Cup, arrived in South Korea to join the national team. He had a productive meeting with Coach Kim Sang Sik, where they discussed the team’s progress and finalized the plans for their ongoing preparation. This visit symbolizes the close collaboration between the VFF and the coaching staff, ensuring that the team remains on track as they build toward the tournament.
Before training began, forward Dinh Thanh Binh spoke with the media, sharing his thoughts on representing the national team and his dedication to improving every day. “Every player called up to the national team carries a great responsibility to contribute fully for the team,” said Dinh. “I strive every day to improve myself, and when I have the opportunity to play, I will do my best to adapt and integrate quickly into the team.”
Dinh also spoke about his versatility and the team’s tactical preparations under Coach Kim’s guidance. “Every player has their strengths, but how we use them depends on the coach’s evaluation. My role is to give my best and fulfill the tasks assigned to me. We are all working hard to meet Coach Kim’s expectations.”
The team’s progress under Coach Kim’s direction is evident, and with the ASEAN Cup fast approaching, the Vietnam national team is prepared to showcase their strength, unity, and tactical mastery. The players are fully committed to the cause, and as Dinh Thanh Binh emphasized, the team is ready to give their all and achieve success in the upcoming competition.
