On the morning of December 6, the Vietnam National Team departed for Vientiane, Laos, to prepare for their opening match of the ASEAN Cup 2024 against the host nation. The team traveled from Noi Bai Airport on flight VN 921, which departed at 9:30 a.m. and is expected to land in Vientiane at 10:45 a.m.
Notably, striker Nguyen Xuan Son traveled with the team despite being ineligible to play in the match against Laos. Xuan Son’s inclusion in the trip provides an opportunity for him to integrate with his teammates, as the Brazilian-born forward missed the training camp in South Korea due to his commitment with Nam Dinh FC in the AFC Champions League Two.
Regarding Vietnam’s squad for the upcoming match, Xuan Son’s absence is confirmed, while Pham Tuan Hai’s availability remains uncertain due to injury. Nevertheless, coach Kim Sang Sik and his players are confident about securing three points against Laos to kick off their ASEAN Cup campaign on a positive note.
The match between Laos and Vietnam is scheduled to take place at 8:00 p.m. on December 9.
