After securing a 2-0 victory over Singapore in the first leg of the ASEAN Cup 2024 semi-finals, the Vietnam national team, led by coach Kim Sang Sik, holds a significant advantage heading into the second leg on home soil. This win brings them closer to a potential spot in the tournament’s final.
For fans, the key question now is whether Vietnam will play the final at Viet Tri Stadium or the My Dinh National Stadium if they advance. According to the latest updates, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has decided that Viet Tri Stadium will host Vietnam’s home leg of the final, should the team qualify.
Earlier, Winston Lee, Secretary-General of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF), confirmed that host federations must use the stadiums they registered with AFF for the entire duration of the tournament. Exceptions can only be made if the registered venue becomes unusable due to force majeure.
The ASEAN Cup 2024 final will be held over two legs, scheduled for January 2 and January 5. If Vietnam progresses to the final, they will play the first leg at Viet Tri Stadium and travel for the second leg.
This decision aligns with Vietnam’s strong connection to Viet Tri Stadium throughout the tournament, ensuring continuity and familiarity for the “Golden Stars” as they strive for ASEAN glory.
